Lastline, Inc., scouts the Internet for bad neighborhoods that are controlled by cyber criminals.
Mission
Our mission is to defend Internet users against malware and cyber crime. Cyber crime is responsible for billions of dollars of losses every year, due to activities such as personal information theft, online scams, denial of service attacks, and spam. We provide a line of defense against these malicious activities.
Current solutions, such as anti-virus tools, are not sufficient to protect networks and their users. Because these tools mostly rely on signatures, they cannot cope with the flood of new (zero-day) threats that appear every day. Thus, there is the need for additional protection, for a last line of defense, that kicks in when existing systems have failed.
Technology
Lastline, Inc., provides protection technology that is complementary to existing anti-virus software and firewalls. Our approach is based on cyber crime intelligence that we gather by analyzing millions of suspicious URLs and binaries each day. More precisely, using our advanced malware analysis tools, we pinpoint the exploit servers that are behind drive-by exploits campaigns and the command and control server that manage botnets. These servers constitute the malicious infrastructure that is used by cyber criminals to carry out their attacks.
Based on our cyber crime intelligence and the continuous monitoring of malicious infrastructures, we offer a collection of tools that enable our customers to protect their hosts and network. For example, we block a connection that a browser opens to an exploit server, and even if a host should become malware-infected (for example, due to an infected USB drive), we will detect and block connections to the command and control servers. This severs the head of the malware program and prevents it from receiving nefarious instructions or sending back sensitive data.
